A Bittersweet Goodbye

A poem by Pastor Greg Asimakoupoulos, presented to us on our last Sunday (for a while at least) at Mercer Island Covenant Church.

Today we say goodbye to two
we cherish as good friends.
A couple who have modeled faith
and how God calls and sends.
Two lives, each marked
by hearts to serve,
to risk with no regrets.
I'm thinking of a guy name Brian
and his wife Jeannette.
They've Prosser-tized
this church of ours
investing in our youth.
And now they're Guatemala-bound
to give the poor God's truth.
Will you join me
in asking God
To guide them as the go?
Let's seek the Lord
on their behalf
and watch His Kindom grow.

It's Almost Time!

We've got our plane tickets, we've had our travel shots, we're signed up for language school, we're almost completely packed, and the time is almost here. In less than 3 weeks we start our trek south. We're so excited! We've dreamed about, prayed for and planned this Latin American ministry for years (Jeannette since she was 14) and now it's almost time. Please pray for us as we finish the last minute details and say tearful goodbyes to our "family" in Seattle. Most of September we will be in California visiting family and friends back home. And then, on September 28th, at 12:15am, we will be on our way to Guatemala.
